Goodwill Industries of Northern New England has been serving Maine since 1933. We began providing services in New Hampshire in 1994. Our corporate offices are located at 353 Cumberland Avenue in Portland Maine.
The mission of the organization is; “Through employment, residential, educational and support services, Goodwill works to enhance the social and economic independence of people with disabilities and others who experience barriers to such independence.”
Our values:
| | We trust and respect the dignity and creative potential of every person. | ||
| | We believe in the inherent, enduring value of work over charity. | ||
| | We uphold the highest possible standard of quality in our programs and services. | ||
| | Considering the needs, interests, and abilities of the people we serve, we will offer services in the most appropriate integrated settings. | ||
| | We will assist people we serve in making informed choices regarding the services they use, and we will honor the choices that preserve individual safety, dignity, and mental and physical well being. All services will be voluntary. | ||
| | We are committed to providing services that satisfy the needs and desires of the people we serve, as measured by both their expressions of satisfaction and their progress toward goals. | ||
| | In all cases, we will strive to enhance the vocational and social independence of the people we serve. | ||
| | We will exercise sound professional judgement in developing and providing services and assisting the people we serve to get the most out of the programs in which they are enrolled. Our services will meet applicable accreditation standards and all relevant federal, state, and or/local regulations. Staff will be licensed or have the correct credentials as appropriate. | ||
| | At their request, we will advocate independently for the interests of the people we serve. | ||
| | We recognize the ever-changing needs within the community. We will consider developing new services if sufficient need is expressed. Although the majority of the people we serve will have a disability, we do not limit the availability of our services to people with disabilities. | ||
