Q:  Do Goodwill stores offer any discounts?
A:  Goodwill stores offer a shopper loyalty program.
Q:  Is Goodwill a store for just the poor?
A:  While Goodwill offers great values to all its shoppers, the purpose of the stores is to provide working capital for Goodwill’s Human Service programs through the sales of reasonably priced donated and purchased goods.

A:  Select Goodwill programs have been CARF (The Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission) accredited since 1972.

A:  Last year we directly served over 2000 people, an additional 2000 individuals received one time service.
Q:  Of the people you serve how many of them live at or below the poverty level?
A:  More than 80% of the people we serve live at or below the poverty level.

A:  Yes, Goodwill Industries of Northern New England is an autonomous organization, with a local volunteer board of directors. We are a member of Goodwill Industries International

A:  Goodwill fulfills our mission by providing Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Residential Services, Employment Services, Deaf Day Treatment and Residential Services, Developmental Disability Day and Residential Services and Case Management Services. A:  Goodwill’s programs are funded in part by our own retail businesses, government funding sources, insurance companies, grants, corporate and individual donors. Our shoppers generously fund Goodwill retail stores.

A:  5.9 % of our budgets go toward administrative costs.

A:  Nationally Goodwill was founded in 1902. Goodwill Industries of Northern New England was founded in 1933.

A:  The working capital from the stores goes to support our human service programs.

A:  Reverend Edgar J. Helms founded the Goodwill movement.

Donate To Goodwill
Q:  Can I drop off items at the stores?
A:  Yes, we prefer donations to be brought to the stores.
Q:  If the items in your stores are donated why don’t you charge less for them?
A:  There are built in costs in getting any one item to the stores. We pay the salaries, benefits, education and training costs of our employees whom pick-up, process, distribute, and sell our goods. Our costs include transportation, insurance, fuel, vehicle maintenance as well as the costs of offering our goods in safe, clean, convenient and well-maintained processing centers and store locations, we pay rent, heat, electricity, water, sewer and other typical fees. Goodwill prices items to maximize their value and uses the capital to benefit our human service programs. Through your donations, Goodwill strives to be a self-sufficient charity.
Q:  Is donating to Goodwill tax deductible?
A:  Donations to Goodwill are tax deductible, Goodwill does not assign value to your donation. Receipts for donations are available at all Goodwill stores and attended donation centers.
Q:  Will you pick up my donations?
A:  Goodwill does not have a home pick-up service.
